Elder Caregiving Programs

Berkshire Red Cross Elder Caregiving Training Programs grew out of a critical need to diversify the Nurse Assistant Training program and address critical needs of our community.

Our Elder Caregiving Training Program includes Nurse Assistant and Home Health Aide Training, Alzheimer's Caregiver, Informal Caregiver and Skills Review Trainings. Berkshire Red Cross staff and volunteers, experts in these areas, are called upon to consult with community agencies and health care facilities throughout Berkshire County. The trainings are designed to address varied audiences including caregivers, physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, home health aides as well as spouses, children, relatives, friends, volunteers and personal care attendants. The program is flexible to adapt to the needs particular groups: from one-hour overview presentations to an eight-hour series with guest lecturers. Each program emphasizes care, safety, privacy, independence, communication, infection control and dignity.
