Red Cross Accepting Donations For Asian Relief Effort
December 29, 2004 - As relief efforts continue in south Asia, the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts has received numerous calls over the past several days from concerned citizens throughout Central Massachusetts who would like to help.
The American Red Cross remains in direct contact with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and is supporting the affected national societies with financial assistance and relief supplies including family tents, plastic sheeting, family health kits, blankets and culturally appropriate food items.
In addition, members of the American Red Cross International Response Team are preparing to deploy when needed to join the massive relief efforts of our international partners.
How Can You Help?
People wanting to help those affected by the tsunami/earthquake emergency response in south Asia and countless other crises around the world each year by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, which will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance, and other support to those in need. Donate online or call toll free 1-800-HELP NOW (1-800-257-7575 for Spanish speakers) or you can mail in your gift to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, 2000 Century Drive, Worcester, MA 01606.
In-Kind Donations: The American Red Cross is unable to accept any large collections of items, such as used clothing, hygiene items, furniture, toys, blankets, and canned goods. Nor are we able to accept small, individual donations of these items. The American Red Cross is currently requesting financial contributions, which will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance, and human resources.
