Berkshire Red Cross Responds to Fenn Street Fire

Pittsfield, MA, February, 9, 2004 — Local Berkshire Red Cross volunteers have been working tirelessly to provide relief for residents after the Fenn Street fire happened on Saturday, February 7, 2004. Preliminary damage assessment indicates that the fire displaced all 28 residents and was considered a total loss for the residents as well as the property owners.

Berkshire Red Cross Disaster Action Team volunteers were on location immediately after the fire was reported. The volunteers provided immediate assessment of victims’ needs for clothing, food and shelter. They also provided Mass Care by coordinating food for the firefighters as well as arranging for a bus to be provided in order to keep firefighters warm.

All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people. You can help the victims of the Fenn Street fire and of other Berkshire County disasters by making a financial gift to the Berkshire Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, which enables the Berkshire Red Cross to provide shelter, food, clothing, counseling and other assistance to those in need. Contributions to the disaster relief fund may be sent to the chapter at 480 West Street, Pittsfield, MA, 01201.
