"Caring Cards" for Our Troops

by Kate Hubley Armed Forces Emergency Services Coordinator

Have you thought about a local service man or woman today?

Would you like to extend your appreciation for the sacrifices our troops are making while they're fighting the war in Iraq or Afghanistan?

Would you like to thank our troops over in Kosovo, who are there on a "peacekeeping" mission?

Now you can!

The Military Family Support Group of the Berkshire Red Cross is conducting a "Caring Cards" project. They'll be sending cards from local residents, like yourself, to Berkshire County troops deployed in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait and Kosovo. These cards will let our troops know that "back home in the Berkshires" we remember them, salute them and honor them. What a wonderful and simple way to support our troops while they're in a foreign land!

It's easy to participate. Just make or purchase a card and either mail or deliver it by the end of March to: Kate Hubley, AFES Dept., American Red Cross, 480 West St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

I believe that you'll feel good in knowing that you've made our troops smile!
