Chairperson's Message
October 2004
The completion of my first year as Chairman of the Berkshire County Chapter
of the American Red Cross presents a time for both reflection and future insight.
The benefits associated with strategic planning and program prioritization, as
conducted by our Board of Directors, have never been more apparent. These
processes have enabled the Chapter to more easily adapt to the county’s changing
demand for the services we offer and will determine the future course of the
Chapter for years to come.
Though the efforts of the Board are greatly appreciated, we who are its members
would concur that the heart and soul of the Chapter are the dedicated staff and
numerous volunteers. Your tireless labor in assisting the residents of Berkshire
County through a wide range of programs is an amazement that is recognized by
both those associated with the Chapter and the general public. Whether it is helping
the victims of the Fenn Street fire, servicing our troops around the world or
everything in between, the manner and efficiency of the services you deliver is
beyond equal. It goes without saying that the Chapter could not exist without you
who care so much.
I would also like to especially thank Kathleen Phillips our Executive Director.
Kathleen’s dedication and boundless enthusiasm have in no small way contributed
to the Chapter’s success and reputation as an agency that gets things done.
When you combine a Vibrant Board, Loyal Volunteers and Dedicated Staff it is
easy to conclude that the Chapter is now, and will remain, strong. An agency whose
sustained higher standards have become the barometer by which we and others judge us.
